Dear Coaches, Manager and Team Admins:
With primary consideration for the safety of all Columbus Cup participants; players, coaches, parents, referees, and club volunteers alike, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Columbus Cup matches for tomorrow, Sunday October 12th.
50% of the clubs, teams playing in our event are traveling between 1 to 2 hours from their homes to our Northport-area event venues. We must consider not only their inbound travel, but their safe return home as well. The storm will severely impact travel with heavy flooding conditions anticipated.
We also believe that making this decision this evening, rather than waiting until tomorrow morning, is in the best interests of all involved in our tournament. Please let your teams and players know.
Over the coming week, NCHU will take the opportunity to review and close the event. This will include discussion on considerations for all our guest clubs and teams due to the cancellation of tomorrow’s scheduled games. Please be patient as our team – who has spent considerable hours in preparation for the start of the tournament – addresses this. We will be back to you within the week.
Those clubs/teams which elected to purchase the event insurance option should contact the insurance company directly.
